ORDINANCE NO. J
(Series of 1971)
WHEREAS, the Charter for the City of Aspen, Colorado
provides for one (1) voting precinct, or three (3) or more pre-
cincts established by ordinance,
AND WHEREAS, prior to the adoption of the City's
Home Rule Charter the City had provided for three (3) voting
precincts within the City,
AND WHEREAS, the establishment of three (3) voting
precincts at all municipal elections will provide for an
efficient and effective procedure for such municipal elections,
which voting precincts shall be substantially equal in the
number of electors.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF ASPEN, COLCRADO:
ELECTION PRECINCTS
Section 1: There is hereby established three
(3) voting precincts within the City of Aspen, Colorado which
shall be described as follows:
Precinct No. 1:
Ail that portion of the City of
Aspen lying east of the center line of
Galena Street extended northerly and
southerly shall be known as Precinct
No. 1.
Precinct No. 2:
Ail that portion of the City of
Aspen lying between the center line of
Galena Street extended northerly and
southerly and the center line of Third
Street extended southerly to the
boundary line of the City of Aspen and
northerly to the intersection of
Gillespie Avenue; thence westerly along
the center line of Gillespie Avenue

Precinct No. 3
to the intersection of the center
line of Gillespie Avenue and Roaring
Fork Road; thence northerly along
the center line of Roaring Fork Road
to the intersection of the center
line of Roaring Fork Road and the
west boundary line of Section Aspen
Company Subdivision; thence northerly
along the west boundary of Second
Aspen Company Subdivision to the
boundary of the City of Aspen, shall
be known as Precinct No. 2.
Ail that portion of the City of
Aspen lying westerly of the center line
of Third Street extended southerly to
the boundary line of the City of Aspen
and northerly to the intersection of
Gillespie Avenue; thence westerly along
the center line of Gillespie Avenue to
the intersection of the center line of
Gillespie Avenue and Roaring Fork Road;
thence northerly along the center line
of Roaring Fork Road to the inter-
section of the center line of Roaring
Fork Road and the west boundary line
of Second Aspen Company Subdivision;
thence northerly along the west
boundary of Second Aspen Company Sub-
division to the boundary of the City
of Aspen shall be known as Precinct
No. 3.
Section 2: A voting precinct shall be compiled
of no more than one thousand (1,000) electors within each pre-
cinct.

Section 3: A public hearing on the Ordinance
shall be held at ~~ ~ /~TJ , at O~/~z~ P.M., in
the City Council Chambers, City Hall, Aspen, Colorado.
