CO-~O, PROVIDING-A PENAL-~ ~-0-~-THE VIOLAT~-~N ~--HER-~, ~.EP--~G ALL ORDI- NANCES IN CONFLICT HERE~,~ITM, AND DECL.~ING AN EMERGENCY THEREFOR. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ASPEN: Section 1. That it shall be unla~ul for sLy person to park any motor or other vehicle, which shall also include bicycles and motorcycles, or to park any animal, ~t any time, except for the purpose ~nd to the extend hereinafter permitted, anywhere on the North half of Main Street between Monarch and Mill Streets in the City of Aspen, Colorado. Section 2. Tbst the Chief of Police shall cause to be erected and maintained, such visible signs as he may deem necessary to warn the public of the parking restrictions contained herein at such suitable locations as he may select. Section 3. That nothing herein contained shall prevent sLy person from p~.rking any vehicle parallel with the parkway along the area described in Section I hereof, for the purposes Of loading or discharging passengers, or for loading or unloading baggage, luggage, freight or express, but in any or all such cases, mlch p~rking shall be limited to not exceeding thirty minutes. Section 4. That the parking restrictions herein contained shall not apply to authorized emergency vehicles of the fire de- partment and oolice department of said city nor to ~ny ambulance or any vehicle used as an ambulance while on call. Section 5. That the orovisions of this ordinance shall ~lso a~ply to the operator of any vehicle owne~ or leased or used in the service of the United States Government, the State of Colorado, or any county, or SLy such operator Lance, the City of Aspen, and it shall be unlawful for to violate any of the ~orovisions of this ordi- exz~?~t ss otherwise permitted in this ordina.nc Section 6. Thet it shsll be unlawful for ~ny person to place or mslntein or to display upon or in view uoon or in the ~rea de- fined in Section i hereof, ~ny unofficisl sign, signal or device w~ich purports to be, or is sn imitstion of, or resembles, an official traffic or psrking sign. Every such prohibited sign, signal or device is hereby declared to be ~ public nuisance, and the Chief of Police is hereby empowered to remove the seme without notice. No m~ch psrking ga~ll be within twenty feet of ~ny street corner; ~nd it shall be unle~ul for ~ny operator of ~ny motor or other vehicle to oerk any such vehicle on the South h~lf of Mein Street in the City of Asoen, Color~do, other th~n ss provided herein. Section 8. That eny person who sh~ll violate sny orovision of this Ordinance shall be guilty of ~ violstion of this Ordinance, and, upon conviction thereof, shall be ounished by ~ fine of not to exceed Five Dollars (~5.00) for esch such offense. Section 9. If any provision of this Ordinance or the ~pplic~- tion thereof to ~ny person or circumstences is held invelid, such invalidity shell not ~ffect other orovisions or applicetions of the Ordinence which cen be given effect without the invalid orovision or ~pplic~tion, end to this end the orovisions of this Ordinance ere declared to be severable. Section 10. That in the opinion of the Council, this Ordinance is deemed necessary to control tr~ffic upon M~in Street in the City of Aspen, end in the opinion of the Council ~n emergency exists ~nd -2- this Ordinance is deemed necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health, property and safety, and shall therefore take effect immediately ~oon its passage and publication as pro- vided by law. Section ll. Each and every Ordinance or part of ordinance in conflict herewith is hereby repealed.
