SERIES OF 1950
AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE SALE AND DISCHARGE OF FIREWORKS IN THE
CITY OF ASPEN, COLORADO, AND PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION
THEREOF.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF ASPEN, COLORADO:
Section 1. Definition.
The term "fireworks" shall include any device or instrument
of any kind or nature whatsoever used for the purpose of creating
or maintaining any pyrotechnical display. The term "fireworks'~
as applied to explosives shall include toy pietols, toy guns, toy
cannons, detonating canes, blank cartridges, firecrackers and
torpedoes of ~ny size and kind, and any substance of sn explosive
nature, and devices for discharging the same; PROVIDED, this ordi-
nance shall not apply to ~mmunition and firearms or to dynamite
~nd devices for exploding the same.
Section 2. Reguletion of S~le.
The sale, possession or displsy for sale of fireworks as
herein defined, within the City of Aspen, Colorado, is hereby
limited to the period of time commencing one week before the 4th
of July and continuing until the 4th of July in any year.
Section 3. Discharge ReguLg. ted.
It shall be unlawful for any person to set off or discharge
fireworks of any kind within the City of Aspen, Colorado, except
during the period between noon on the 3rd day of July, to midnight
on the ~th day of July.
Section 4. Penalty.
Any person, firm, association or corporation violating any of
the provisions of t~his ordinance shall be guilty of a misdemeanor,
and upon conviction thereof, shall be punished by s fine of not
less than $5.00 nor more th~n $100.00, ~nd in default of such pay-
merit,' shall be committed to the city Jail for ~ period not exceed-
ing ten (10) days, until such fine is paid.
Section 5. Repeal.
All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith
hereby repe~led.

Colorado, upon the affirmative vote of three-fourths of all members
thereof, at a regular meeting of said Council held on the 7th day of
August, A.D. 1950.
