HomeMy WebLinkAboutordinance.council.009-54ORDINANCE NO. ~_ (Series of 1954)' AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE ANNEXATION TO THE CITY OF ASPEN, COLORADO, A MUNICIPAL CORPORATION, OF CERTAIN TER- RITORY OR REAL ESTATE PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED IN THIS ORDI- NANCE LYING OUTSIDE OF, BUT ADJACENT TO, SAID CITY IN PITKIN COUNTY, COLORADO. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ASPEN: Section 1. ANNEXATION. That pursuant to a written petition pre- sented to the City Council of the City of Aspen, Colorado, a municipal corporation, by Phillip J. Crosby, which petition is signed by over fifty per cent of the land owners and by owners of more than fifty per cent of the area included in the petition seeking annexation of certain territory or real estate hereinafter particularly described, lying outside of, but adjacent to, the City of Aspen, Pitkin County, Colorado, and ns counter- claim having been filed within the time prescribed by law after notice was given by publication in the Aspen Times, a weekly newspaper of general circulation in the City of Aspen, Colorado, on September 9, 1954, Septem- ber 16, 1954 and September 23, 1954 in compliance with the statutes of the State of Colorado, and after acceptance of said petition by resolution .of the City Council at a regular meeting held on September 7, 1954, the following described property or real estate, to-wit: A tract of land situate adjacent to the city limits of the City of Aspen and described as being part of Block 20 and all of Block 98 in the Hallams Addition to the City of Aspen, Colorado, which property may also be described as bounded on the West by the centerline of Sixth Street, on the North by the centerIine of Gillespie Avenue and on the East by the centerline of Fifth Street, according to the Willits Map as the same is recorded in the office of the Clerk and Recorder of Pitkin County, Colorad.~, as Document No. 97096, is hereby annexed to and made a part of the City of Aspen, Colorado, a municipal corporation. Section 2. EMERGENCY. It is hereby declared than an emer- gency exists and that this ordinance is necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety of the inhabitants of the City of Aspen, Colorado.
