HomeMy WebLinkAboutminutes.council.19821209Special Meeting Aspen City Council December 9, 1982 Mayor Edel called the special meeting to order at 12:10 p.m. with Councilmembers Collins, Knecht and Michael present. ORDINANCE ~71, SERIES OF 1982 Issuance of $11,605,000 Sales Tax Bonds Mayor Edel opened the public hearing. There were no comments. Mayor Edel closed the public hearing. City Attorney Taddune told Council the bond counsel is recommending enactment of the ordinance and the supporting documents. The bond counsel has amended the ordinance to be consistent with the second draft. Dee Wisor, Sherman & Howard, pointed out the Counci~ that the unlining reflect the amendments to conform with the dollar amounts sold by Kirchner/Moore. Councilman Knecht moved to adopt Ordinance ~71, as amended on second reading; seconded by Councilman Collins. City Manager Chapman said the city is doing this refunding so they can proceed with the Wheeler Opera House renovation and open space acquisition. If the city did not refund, one of the programs would have to slow down. The effect of the refunding is to push the debt towards the end of the schedule. Another reason for refunding is because of the transportation consolidation issue and the seventh penny debt. Roll call vote; Councilmembers Collins, aye; Knecht, aye; Michael, aye; Mayor Edel, aye. Motion carried. ORDINANCE #72, SERIES OF 1982 - Issuance of $1,105,000 Bonds Mayor Edel opened the public hearing. There were no comments. Mayor Edel closed the public hearing. Councilman Knecht moved to adopt Ordinance #72, Series of 1982, as amended on second reading; seconded by Councilman Collins. Roll call vote; Councilmembers Michael, aye; Collins, aye; Knecht, aye; Mayor Edel, aye. Motion carried. Councilwoman Michael moved to adjourn at 12:15 p.m. seconded by Councilman Collins.
