COMMERCIAL CORE & LODGING COMMISSION
MINUTES OF MARCH 1, 2006
Chairperson, Bill Dinsmoor called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m.
Commissioners in attendance were: Stan Hajenga. Shae Singer and Mark
Goodman. Don Sheeley, John Starr and Terry Butler were excused.
Staff in attendance: Kathleen Strickland, Chief Deputy City Clerk
Bill requested that Daryl Grobb from the Fire Dept. be present at the next
meeting and discuss why they did not want to move the fire station to the
Zupancis property. What is their long term planning regarding the fire
department and how does it coordinate with the county.
Bill said we need to know what the grand plan is and how it fits in with the
city and county etc.
Saturday Market
Peter Forte, produce vendor and representative for the farmers stated that
they discussed Pastamore and their relationship with the parent company
Pappardelles.
Bill said his concern is that they are a wholesale and they do not make it.
They buy it by bulk.
Shae said Pastamore needs to make an agreement with the maker in Denver
that she is an employee. She also suggested Pastamore use Pappadelli's
bags.
Peter said they focused on the difference between a broker and an agent and
worked out the details.
Stan said the arrangement works now. Stan said one of the best markets is
in Seattle. Maybe as the market evolves we need to discuss with the city
council what they want.
Peter went over the new produce vendors that have applied for the market.
Kathy pointed out that the market is full.

Bill said the two parties need to be thinking as to how we want to construct
next years contract.
Kathy relayed that she met with the Parking Dept. and the Fire Dept.
regarding the parking entrance to the private parking lot beside the Gap. Ed
VanWalrven said they would prefer that the entrance not be blocked with
booths. The space holds three booths. She also said the parking department
does not want the handicapped parking space to be blocked on E. Hopkins.
That area is about 28 feet.
The CCLC and Peter were confused because the area in front of the parking
lot has always been used and the handicapped parking space. Staffwas
directed to follow-up and find out what the reasoning is for not using those
spaces
Lance Gilliam, owner of the Cooking School of Aspen discussed the
cooking demonstrations in the park. Lance said the Saturday Market would
be a great resource for local chefs to market themselves. Lance agreed to
coordinate the market. The market has an advertising budget if needed to
advertise the Cooking School. The post cards could be altered to identify
that the Cooking School is sponsoring the demonstrations.
Shae said Plum TV might be willing to do a shoot at the market.
CCLC determined that it would be better if the cooking demonstrations
moved forward south to the entrance of the park. Staffwill follow-up with
the Parks. Dept. to make sure that is acceptable.
