HomeMy WebLinkAboutminutes.council.19600829 Aspen, Colorado Special Meeting , Aspen City Council August 27~ 1760 The meeting was opened by Mayor Garrish ,at 8:00 PM with Attorney Stewart, City Administrator Wurl, Councilmen Anderson, Braun, James and Beyer present. It was an informal meeting for the purpose of opening bids on the water tank. : Mr. Wurl said that Frank Kralich had told him that he had been required to lay about 90 ft. of i Waterline 2" waterline,- and he feels that he is entitled to some adjustment as he will now be on a one ~nch I Kralich service line. After discussion it was decided that Wurl would try to reach a ~settlemmt with Mr. Kralich of about $75.00. Cut-Back Mr. Wurl also said that the State had agreed to allow a cut-back at the intersection of Main and Main & Galena Galena Streets to establish a better grade, and that the cost would be about $1,000.00 of which the County would pay at least half. It was suggested that Wurl contact the Conoco'Station as this would be to their advantage. The matter of gravel was discussed; the quotation from Evans was $1.70 a yd, with the City doing the hauling. The quotation from Heman was $1.~0 a yd delivered, and $.50 a ydwith the City hauling. It was decided to try to hire Morris and Knudsen trucks for hauling and Wurl will look further into this. The bridge on Highway 82 was discussed, also letter from Highway Department to the County Com- missioners, of which a copy was sent to the City. Wurl talked by phone to Mr. Jorgenson of the High- Bridge Rt.82 way Department who said there is to be a meeting in November and he requested that representatives from Council attend. Correspondence read by Mayor - Letter from Peters, Writer & Christensen re balance of Waterworks Bonds. - Letter from Fred Matter of State Department of Health re his transfer to another district. Bids - Tank Opening of bids followed~ - fabricating and erecting steel tank. - 500,000 gals. Thompson Pipe and Steel - Denver, Colorado Total bid - $30,8h1.00 Chicago Bridge and Iron Co. Salt Lake City, Utah 28,650.OO Alternate bid for tank 52' by 32' h" ~6,200.00 Pittsburgh - Des Moines Steel Co., 0enver 27,520.00 Grand Junction Steel Fabricating Co. Grand Junction 28,665.00 The bidders requested consideration in the matter of painting the tank in the event the weather becomes too severe to make painting feasible. Council agreed ~o consider this factor. Motion by Anderson seconded by Braun, to accepv the bid of Pittsburgh- Des Moines Steel Co. of Denver, it being the lowest bid. Carried uhanimously. Construction of Dog Pound discussed - and possible available space. wavermains Also discussed - New watermains in City leading into old lines in the County, and informing users outside the City about,their maintaining lines.
