Aspen, Color. a~o Special Meeting, Aspen City Council July 31~ 1962
The Council and Mayor Garfish met with members of the Aspen Fire District at 7:00PM.
~resent were Councilmen Beyer, Moore, Newell and Zordel, City Administrator Humphrey,
od Nicholson, James Parsons and Bob Kopp.
Bob Kopp inquired about land in East ~spen, and Mayor Garfish advised him to have a
complete survey made.
Discussed - manning a central location for fire and police calls. It was suggested Fire Calls
Police calls.

that the County and the Civil Defense should be consulted about joining in cost. Mr.
Humphrey presented plan whereby this could be handled in the City Hall with the present
personnel, assistance from the Police Department, and two additiona! employees. Mr.
Nicholson asked for a five year contract, and Mayor Garfish suggested that a review
clause be inserted to provide for any change in operation. If City's present contract
with Sheriff Herwick is discontinued, the $100.00 a month n~w,.paid~to him, plus $150.00
a month would be the City's share toward this project. Members of the Fire Dept. are
to,consult with the County Commissioners about sharing the cost, and Mr. Humphrey is to
ask Oreste Gerbaz about Civil Defense participation.
Mr. Humphrey read a letter from Colorado Pump and Supply Company about pump and
Pump Well No. salvage material available f~om pumphouse on East Hyman St., and Council agreed that
4 it would be advisablel.to move the 75 HP pump, and to continue with 8" pipe.
The meeting adjourned at 8:27PM upon motion by Beyer seconded by Zordel.
