COMMERCIAL CORE & LODGING COMMISSION
MINUTES OF JUNE 7. 2006
Chairperson, Bill Dinsmoor called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m. Commissioners in
attendance: Terry Butler, John Starr, Shae Singer and Stan Hajenga. Excused were Mark
Goodman and Don Sheeley.
MARKET
The board discussed music and staff stated that she contact the MAA several times and never got
a response. The board wanted the music students to play at the market. Shae volunteered to
contact the MAA. Shae also indicated that she feels we can get TV coverage from Plum TV.
Bill said he thinks TV coverage would be good.
John pointed out that Peter Forte clearly believes in the music and that it draws patrons to the
market. Peter feels musicians should be paid.
Staff pointed out that in the past musicians paid for free but the environment has changed and no
one will play for free.
Stan and Shae suggested that we pay the music students $25. each. Staffwill schedule trio's at
the end of August after the students leave.
CCLC suggested staff contact community service and see if they can take out the trash weekly.
Terry said she contacted the Parks Dept. to see if they would put up a bike rack by her corner.
The bike rack is always used at that corner.
Parks Dept. issues:
CCLC would like Jeff Woods, Parks Dept. director to come to the next meeting to answer
questions and clarify issues.
/. Why was the trash receptacle removed from Aspen Street in front of the Main Street Bakery
when it is heavily used?
2. Also there is concern with the removal of the trash receptacle at Conner Park.
3. Dog excretion receptacles
a. How often are they refilled?
b. One needs placed at Stillwater
4. Fire Pit - size. Terry said it is very unfriendly.
5. Terry mentioned that the streams are muddy and she would like to know what the cause is.
6. Bill mentioned a huge recycling box by the fountain. There is also one by City Hall.
Shae also said she is concerned with the fact that our parks are inaccessible before events and
during events and after events. Most of the volunteers for Food and Wine don't get to use the
park. They have the grass situation down to a science. She also said Food and Wine is a great
event for Aspen.
Stan also expressed his concern for the lack of use of the parks during large events.

John said this is exactly what a BID could do.
Terry said she is full for Food and Wine. Food and Wine benefit restaurants and lodges.
Bill said he is concerned about outside dining and what are the regulations. Bill requested that
the new zoning officer and the City Clerk be contacted to come to a CCLC meeting and explain
the rules.
ISIS - John mentioned the sale of the Isis Theatre. The BID could take this on. John also feels
that our community would be behind it. Bill also agreed that the BID could investigate the ISIS.
Recycling Center - Stan and Bill went to the recycling center and it was full. Stan asked staff to
check and see if the center is monitored and when is the recycling picked up.
Stan also mentioned that there is no signage at the garage indicated that an elevator exists. Way
finding is important for the City.
Shae agreed that we need way finding signs that are uniform looking.
Terry - complimented the Streets Dept. They repaved the alley and it is nice and clean.
