AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
FOR DETERMINING THE PURCHASE PRICE OF POWER
PRODUCED BY THE RUEDI HYDROELECTRIC PROJECT
AND DELIVERED TO THE CITY OF ASPEN
WHEREAS, the City of Aspen is developing a hydroelectric
facility at Ruedi Dam jointly with Pitkin County; and
WHEREAS, the electrical power to be produced by that
facility will be delivered to the City of Aspen by way of existing
transmission lines owned and operated by Holy Cross Electric
Association and Colorado-Ute Electric association; and
WHEREAS, the electrical power delivered to the City of
Aspen will be sold to the City of ~spen's electric utility cus-
tomers at retail rates; and
WHEREAS. the City of Aspen has adopted Ordinance 942,
Series of 1984, and Ordinance 99, Series of 1985, which establish,
respectively, certain procedures for the setting of retail elec-
tric rates and certain retail rates established pursuant to those
procedures; and
WHEREAS, those Ordinances make reference to the purchase
of Ruedi power and to the repayment of Ruedi Project costs from
revenues collected throughout the retail sale of electrical
energy by the City of Aspen Electrical Utility.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF ASPEN, COLORADO that the cost of Ruedi powe'r, the
price paid by the City of Aspen for that power and the distribu-
tion of revenues collected pursuant to retail resale of that
power will be determined and implemented according to the provi-
sions of Joint Resolution % /~' , dated'~~ /O ,
1985, and duly adopted by the Aspen City Council and the Pitkin
County Board of Commissioners, and that the relevant cost figures
derived therefrom will be applied to the appropriate sections of
Ordinance ~42, Series of 1984, and Ordinance ~9. Series of 1985.
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the City of Aspen will pay
$.035 (3.5 cents) per delivered kilowatt-hour for power produced
by the Ruedi Project during 1985.
A public hearing on the ordinance shall be held on the 12th
day of August, 1985, at 5:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers,
Aspen City Hall, Aspen, Colorado.
