HomeMy WebLinkAboutordinance.council.054-85 RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS 100 Leaves ORDINANCE NO. ~'-~ (Series of 1985) AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING THE MEETING ROOM OF THE COMMUNITY CENTER LOCATED AT 0100 nONE PINE ROAD IN THE UNINCORPORATED AREA OF PIT- KIN COUNTY AS AN ALTERNATIVE PLACE TO CONDUCT MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ASPEN WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the meeting room of the Community Center located at 0100 Lone Pine Road in the unincorpor- ated area of Pitkin County is an excellent place for holding pub- lic meetings due to its size, accessibility to handicapped persons and abundance of parking, and WHEREAS, in recognition of its responsibility to make its meetings accessible to the public the City Council desires to establish the meeting room of the Community Center as an alterna- tive place for conducting meetings, notwithstanding its location outside the boundaries of the City, when the City Council deems appropriate, and WHEREAS, the City Council finds that: 1. The Community Center is less than one mile from and within easy walking distance of City Hall and, therefore, conduct- ing meetings at the Community Center would not inconvenience the citizens of the City merely by reason of the fact that the Commun- ity Center is located approximately 200 to 500 feet outside the boundary of the City, and 2. The Community Center may serve as an appropriate alter- native site to City Hall for conducting meetings of the City Coun- cil because it is more easily accessible to handicapped persons, there is more parking space and the meeting room is larger than the City Council Chambers at City Hall. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ASPEN, COLORADO: RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS 100 Leaves Section 1 That for the reasons set forth above, the meeting room of the Community Center located at 0100 Lone Pine Road in the unincor- porated area of Pitkin County is hereby established as an alterna- tive place to conduct meetings of the City Council when deemed appropriate by the City Council. Section 2 If any section, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase or por- tion of this ordinance is for any reason held invalid or unconsti- tutional by any court of competent jurisdiction, such portion shall be deemed a separate, distinct and independent provision and such holding shall not affect the validity of the remaining por- tions thereof. Section 3 A pUblic hearing on the ordinance shall be held on the day of ~~.___ .......... , 1985, at 5:00 P.M. in the City Council Chambers, Aspen City Hall, Aspen, Colorado.
