Commissioners in attendance: Terry Butler, Mark Goodman, Shae Singer, John Starr and Don Sheeley. Discussion on worksession with City Council: Shae indicated that she was on the board when CCLC had a budget and the budget was taken away. In her opinion council doesn't want to talk about a budget for CCLC. Don agreed with Shae that the new ordinance for the CCLC should be generic. The money is not a big deal. Shae pointed out that the CCLC as a committee needs to take a proactive stance with the community. Ifwe are the lodging commission we should take it upon ourselves to make phone calls etc. Then we have some interaction with our community. It is more important that we get interactive with the core and then we have something important to take back to city council. If we can't find what the people in the core want we can't report to council. John said he wants to talk about what CCLC can do for council. Mark feels that the CCLC needs to be more pro-active and increase our effectiveness. Us as a board should do that. If you don't ask you don't get. The board felt that an allocation list should be drawn up in case a budget is discussed at the work session. Terry said we need more contact with council. All we are asking is that the money be accessible. Shae explained that she went to Helen for Aspen goes Bazaar and Helen handled the funding. There was no problem getting the funding. Andrew Kole suggested the CCLC ask for a budget in the ordinance. If you want to put on events tell them what you want to do. COMMERCIAL CORE & LODGING COMMISSION MINUTES OF AUGUST 15.2007 The board felt that funding should be available to explore new and different ideas for Aspen. Staff will type up the ordinance and will distribute an addendum for the worksession. Shae suggested a one page flyer be attached to the business license renewals. We need to let people know who they need to talk too about various things. Shae suggested that next year we put an ad in the paper about the pavement being hot on the animal's feet. The board requested information on what our liability is on board members and on the market. They also would like to be introduced to the new global warming person at the next meeting. ~::;~J Kathleen . Strickland, Chief Deputy Clerk
